Troubleshooting guide – Ben Sayers

My Trolley has no power

  • Check all connections and check for any wiring damage
  • Check the rubber cover over the battery port has been removed, this can block the connection.
  • Check main wiring harness connection, if it’s too tight it can pull out from the back of the circuit board. (remove 16 x screws from underside of the handle and separate both sections)
  • If able to check battery voltage – should show 14v during use.
  • Check charger – should have a RED light when charging and turn GREEN when fully charged.
  • Does the battery cut out randomly during use but shows a full charge on the display?

The motor is running but wheels are not turning

  • Check the wheels are on the correct sides – the wheel clutches are left/right specific and wont run if on the wrong side.
  • Check the wheel clutch bearing freely turns on way (left anticlockwise / right clockwise)
  • Check the axle split pins are correctly fitted through the axle (should protrude out of the axle equally on each side)

My trolley pulls left or right when moving or the trolley goes off to one side straight away

  • Check wheel is latched onto the axle correctly.
  • Check the axle split pins are correctly fitted through the axle (should protrude out of the axle equally on each side)
  • Check bag is weighted evenly. Maximum weight capacity of trolley is 30kg.
  • Adjust the front wheel alignment using the dials on each side of the fork assembly – you can manually adjust the wheel my loosening the 5mm allen bolt and physically moving the wheel over

The Battery lacks power

  • Check the battery cable connection has a metal sleeve in each pin hole (should be 3 in total)
  • Check the metal sleeves are tight
  • Check the charger function – should light up RED when charging and turn GREEN when fully charged – charger should get warm but not too hot to touch
  • Put battery through another charge cycle.
  • Check voltage – should show around 14v during use.
  • Check wheels are on correct side.

Things to look out for

  • Does the trolley powers on but ‘clicks’ when you press the start button?
  • Does the speed control is flickering and not staying on one number?
  • Does the speed control button feel secure?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Should I charge the battery once I receive the unit?

Ben Sayers: Our batteries come supplied fully charged, but we recommend you charge them for a full 12 hours before the first usage. The charger should show a solid red light while it's charging and will then turn to green when the battery is fully charged. The batteries develop their full potential after a few full charging cycles.

How long does the battery last?

Ben Sayers: Our batteries are designed to last for 18/36 holes of play on average or 5-10 hours of play per charge, depending on the model. Depending on the weight and topography of your course this time may vary slightly. However, we recommend recharging the battery after every use, as complete drainage of the battery reduces the charge the battery can hold.

What do the lights on the handle mean?

Ben Sayers: The red, amber and green LEDs on the handle indicate the level of charge of the battery. When the battery is fully charged, all 3 lights are illuminated. As the battery depletes, first the green, then amber lights will go off. If only the red is on the battery only has low charge left and will need recharging.

My trolley has no power when I try to turn it on?

Ben Sayers: Please check if all electrical connections are tight. Also check that the battery connector cable is intact and that the metal linings in each of the three holes are in place.

My trolley tends to track to one side. What should I do?

Ben SayersAll trolleys will follow the weight distribution of your equipment (maximum capacity 30kg) and the slopes of the course. If the weight in your bag is unevenly distributed the trolley will always tend to track to that side. Make sure that your bag is balanced. Please test the tracking of your trolley without the bag on even terrain. The tracking can also be adjusted by adjusting the front wheel using the dials on either side of the wheel. If necessary, the front wheel axle can be loosened and manually realigned.

Battery Care Information

1. Operating Your Electric Trolley

In order to turn the trolley on press and hold the power button for approximately three seconds until the LED display lights up.

While holding onto the handle start turning the speed control dial clockwise. The trolley will start to move forwards at the speed setting displayed on the LED display. You can adjust the speed to your desired pace by turning the speed control dial.

To stop the trolley either turn the speed control dial anti-clockwise until the display reads 0 or press the power button once.

 2. Battery Use and Care

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE PRECAUTIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR CORRECT BATTERY USE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DIMINSH THE LIFE OF THE BATTERY AND INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY.

  • Please do not charge the battery in a sealed container or in an upside down position. It is recommended that you charge the battery in a well ventilated area.
  • Please do not charge the battery near a heater or in direct sunlight.
  • In order to prolong the service life of the battery, please avoid complete discharge and charge the battery after every use. When the trolley is not in use for an extended period of time, it is recommended that the battery is fully charged once a week to ensure it retains its charge.
  • The red battery terminal is positive and the blue terminal is negative. If you need to replace the battery connector cable please ensure the terminals match the colours of the two sections of the cable.
  • Please do not disassemble the battery and dispose of it at your local recycling centre if necessary.
  • The advertised range of the battery is based on normal conditions but exceptionally long or hilly courses, wet ground conditions and excessively heavy golf bags may reduce the range of the battery.

NEVER TOUCH THE ELECTRIC TERMINALS OF THE BATTERY AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD

 3. How to Charge the Battery

Charge the battery by plugging the charger into the battery and then plug the charger into the mains electricity supply. Charge the battery after each round of golf. Charging is complete when the charger light changes colour from red to green and can take between 5 - 10 hours. We recommend charging your battery for an extra 1-2 hours after the green light appears to ensure a full charge.

Once the battery is fully charged please disconnect the charger lead.
