Beyond hiding an eyesore, a sleek and stylish cover provides a lovely addition to your home’s interior design. It can be complemented with art, plants, or books for additional visual appeal. Read more in our guide on why you should buy a radiator cover.

Are Radiator Covers Safe?

Yes, radiator covers are safe and actually increase safety in your home, especially for children and pets. They provide a crucial protective barrier, preventing direct contact with a hot radiator's surface. With conventional radiators running at temperatures up to 90 degrees (and serious burns possible from surfaces over 43 degrees), a cover dramatically reduces the risk of accidental injury.

Do Radiator Covers Block Heat?

No, a properly designed and fitted radiator cover should not block heat. The cover absorbs some heat, which is then re-released. Our covers are also designed with sufficient open space to allow natural air circulation. For more information, read our radiator cover guide.

How to remove radiator covers.

If you need to remove your radiator cover to bleed your radiator or conduct any other maintenance work, it couldn’t be easier. Jack Stonehouse radiator covers are free-standing, so they only take a few minutes to install. Carefully remove the fixings attaching the cover to the wall with a screwdriver, and once they’re all out, lift the cover and transport it to a safe place.

How to paint a radiator cover.

If you want your radiator to match your authentic style, our MDF unpainted radiator covers are unfinished to let your creativity shine. Choose whatever colours and designs you like to create a piece of furniture that screams you. When you’ve decided how you want to paint your radiator cover, follow these steps:

Dust - Our unfinished covers arrive flat-packed so you can get on with painting almost immediately. Simply give them a quick wipe to remove any dust or debris accumulated in transit.
Prepare and prime - Adding a layer of primer to your cover before painting will create a perfect base that feels smooth and natural to add your spark of creativity.
Paint away - Once primed, your wooden radiator cover will be ready to experience its radiator renaissance with whatever you see fit.
Finish - If you fancy an extra shine, add a finishing clear coat, and you're done! Allow the paint to dry and assemble!
